In a few years, Down’s Syndrome testing will soon be a matter of a blood test early in pregnancy, rather than amniocentesis.

The latter procedure has a risk of causing miscarriage as well as increasing stress as it can only be carried out later in the pregnancy.

For those who choose to scan for Down’s Syndrome, this new procedure will increase safety and reduce stress in what is already a very difficult situation.
