UK pension officials have warned that the British will have to work until 70 years old in the future before retirement.
The government already have said that we will need to work until the age of 68, come 2044. This announcement comes on top of that – we will need to work even longer.
Well, if I am living to 150, I suppose working to 70 is not too much to ask.
Seriously, it has been obvious for many years that those in work are straining to support a growing elderly population through the social system. Working to 68 by 2044, and eventually working to 70 seems to me to be a rather modest proposal.
